Ingrida Rupaitė
Ingrida Rupaite was born in 1979, Vilnius. She completed her studies at M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts in 1997 (the violin class of Prof. Jonas Urba). In 1997, the musician entered Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2001, the violinist acquired her Bachelor’s Diploma and in 2003 she was granted her Master’s Diploma (under Prof. Jonas Urba).
During her studies she became a diploma holder at the National Domas Svirskis Young Performers Competition in 1997 (Lithuania) and the International Chamber Music Competition in Pavia in 1999 (Italy).
In 2001-2003, the performer was invited to be the first violinist of the State Kaunas String Quartet. Together with the quartet Ingrida has performed successfully at the Pazaislis Festival, Gaida Festival, and has played with famous Lithuanian as well as foreign musicians.
In 2003, under the initiative of the violinist, the ART VIO quartet was established. Together with the quartet the musician has been participating actively in concert life of Lithuania as well as abroad. In 2004, ART VIO took part at the International Chamber Music Competition in Kuhmo (Finland), and played in the concert in commemoration of Lithuanian-German composers and artists in Berlin (Germany) organized by famous German composer and conductor Kurt Dietmar Richter, where the quartet received great acclaim and a round of applause from the audience. For several years in succession, ART VIO participated in the master classes held in Reichenau (Austria) and led by world-known members of such famous string quartets as Amadeus, Artis, Bartok, Hagen, Janacek and Smetona. In 2003, the ensemble became the winner of the 2nd Prize at the National Chamber Music Competition in Vilnius (Lithuania). In 2005, the string quartet Art Vio had the honour to give a solo representative concert in the Royal Palace of El Prado in Madrid during the visit of President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus in Spain. In 2007, the quartet released a compact disc with the music by Lithuanian composers. In November same year, ART VIO performed as successful representatives of Lithuania at the International Chamber Music Festival Harmos07.
As a soloist Ingrida Rupaite has played with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Yerevan Symphony Orchestra and Kaunas Symphony Orchestra. In March 2008, the musician performed Concerto for Violin by Anatolijus Senderovas in Lithuania and Poland, which was a great success. As a soloist and a performer of chamber music the violinist has given concerts in Latvia, Poland, Germany, Iceland, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Russia and etc.
Since 2003, Ingrida Rupaite has been the member as well as the second violinist of the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra of the Vilnius City Municipality. Moreover, the performer works as a pedagogue at the National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts.
